Rhian Brewster has joined Swansea City on loan for the second half of the season from Liverpool. His arrival may just be the perfect fit for all involved.
On the chalkboard
The 19-year-old has featured just three times so far this term, so a loan move makes sense for his development. He will be hoping to make an immediate impact with the Swans.

The former Premier League side, meanwhile, will be hoping that the England U21 international’s arrival will be the boost they need to confirm their place in the Championship play-offs at the end of the campaign.
Chance to be prolific
Steve Cooper’s men may be pushing for promotion, but they are clearly lacking goals. Only five sides in the division have scored less than their own 32 strikes. Andre Ayew leads the way with 11 goals, but he is a winger. Sam Surridge has scored seven, but he has now returned to Bournemouth, whilst Borja Baston has not scored since September. The former top-tier outfit have struggled to replace the goals of Oli McBurnie, who joined Sheffield United last summer. He netted 22 times in the league in 2018/19.

However, a more clinical striker could bag a hatful if he moved to the Liberty Stadium. Only five sides have had more shots per game than Swansea, and only as many sides have averaged more possession. At a junior level Brewster has been prolific. He has 13 goals in 28 games for the U23 side, as well as five in 11 for the U18 side. He knows where the goal is.
Playing alongside the experience of Ayew, Brewster could be the perfect fit for Swansea. With him finally having the opportunity to prove himself at a first-team level, this could be the platform he requires to show he has what it takes. Just look at what Championship football did for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham. The 22-year-old scored over 20 goals in campaigns with Bristol City and Aston Villa, and he now has 12 goals in the top flight this season. It is now up to Brewster to take the initiative and show what he is made of.
