Lorius Karius faced two penalties during Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The German saved the first from Harry Kane, but could not keep out the second as Tottenham twice came from behind to pick up a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Karius has recently been made Liverpool’s number one goalkeeper at the expense of experienced campaigner Simon Mignolet.
It would be fair to say that Liverpool have had a big problem between the sticks in recent seasons, but Karius does seem to be a more popular choice than Mignolet.
The German is yet to seriously convince, although keeping out Kane’s first spot kick would have given him a lot of confidence.
The reaction from the Liverpool supporters suggest that they want Karius to be the club’s number one for a long time. That said, everything could change next week if the 24-year-old drops a clanger against Southampton at St Mary’s.
