BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has suggested that he is quite excited to see the budding partnership between Everton strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean grow in his latest Premier League Team of the Week column.
What did he say?
Well, with the Toffees playing just 48 hours prior to their trip to face Newcastle United, new manager Carlo Ancelotti decided to bring his compatriot into the starting XI against Steve Bruce’s men as he rotated a few individuals, with Richarlison dropping back out wide.
It was a decision that ended up paying off for the 60-year-old as the visitors ran out 2-1 winners, with Calvert-Lewin scoring a brace.
The young Englishman and Italian impressed during their 61 minutes on the field together, and Crooks believes it was an “inspired decision” to play the two together on Tyneside.
The 61-year-old wrote in his latest Team of the Week column: “I also think it was an inspired decision by Ancelotti to play Moise Kean alongside Calvert-Lewin. This could develop into quite a partnership.”
Crooks is excited
The comments suggest that the pundit is excited to see more of the two players – who are both aged 22 and under – playing together moving forward, and it is something that could very much be on the cards.

Calvert-Lewin is in outstanding form now with five goals in his previous five Premier League appearances, and Ancelotti said after he maintained his 100% record start to his reign that he thinks the former Sheffield United man can go to “the top in England and in Europe”.
In addition, he said that he wanted to sign Kean when he was in charge of Napoli, and while the teenager may be yet to break his goalscoring duck for the Merseyside outfit, if his manager can work his magic on him then that could soon change.

The Liverpool Echo reported prior to Ancelotti’s arrival at Goodison Park that he likes to play a 4-4-2 formation with one striker with a high work-rate, and the other more of a poacher/goal-getter.
Given Calvert-Lewin is doing both of these things right now, he only needs Kean to get on the goal trail to have an exciting partnership on his hands at Everton.
