According to in Italy, AC Milan have enquired about the availability of Lukaku, who is returning to Chelsea after completing the 2023-24 season at Roma. The Italian giants are looking to replace Olivier Giroud, who is departing for MLS in the summer.

Milan are not the only Italian side in the frame to sign Lukaku this summer, however, as Napoli have emerged as candidates, too. Antonio Conte is set to be confirmed as the club's new head coach and reports have said he wants to reunite with the Belgian as Victor Osimhen could leave.

Lukaku would be a shrewd addition for Milan as they look to close the gap on rivals and champions Inter in 2024-25. In Giroud, they are losing a forward who scored 15 times in the league last season. Replacing him with the Chelsea man would almost plug the hole left by the 37-year-old. Lukaku scored 13 times for Roma as they finished sixth.

Nothing is close to being completed but Lukaku may learn more about his future over the coming weeks. He is currently away with Belgium as they prepare for Euro 2024 and a good performance at the tournament in Germany may help his case for a return to Italy.
